Ecommerce settings

Artlook Ecommerce lets buyers pay you directly through your website, using Stripe to process payments. See how Ecommerce works for what this looks like for you and your buyers.

Turning it on

Switch E-commerce status to Enabled. You’ll need a Stripe account — instructions for setting one up are sent to you when you sign up for the module.

You’ll also need to set up Shipping so buyers are charged correctly. The Shipping charges tick box on the Inventory tab must be ticked for the Shipping tab to appear.

Customer payments

Enter your Stripe Public key and Secret key here, from your Stripe account.

Testing your Stripe setup

Save your keys, then refresh the page. A Test your Stripe setup panel appears with a card entry form. Enter a valid debit or credit card and click Test Payment (£1.00). A £1 transaction is made to your Stripe account, confirming that your keys work.

Options

Customise the messages buyers see during checkout. Suggested wording is shown in each box to get you started:

  • Message to encourage buyers to create an account (or to log in if they already have one) — shown at the start of checkout.
  • Message explaining the checkout process (optional) — for example, reassurance that Stripe handles all card details and that none of your buyers’ payment data is held by Artlook.
  • Message when shipping not available — shown when no shipping option or collection is available for the buyer’s destination or the item, for example “Please contact us to arrange delivery”.

Don’t forget to click Save changes.
