Website settings

Configure this tab if you’re using the Artlook website included with your subscription — see How your website works first if you haven’t already, since several of these settings depend on how your Groupings are set up.

A live preview of your website sits alongside these settings and updates as you change them, using your own content, so you can see the effect of your choices before saving. If you haven’t published anything yet, click Sample preview to see the template with placeholder content instead of your own.

Look and feel

  • Base template — choose the overall layout of your site. There are 7 very different templates to choose from — Traditional, Standard, Contemporary, Cards, Logical, Sidebar and Wide-screen — each available in at least 7 colour packs and 7 font packs, so in practice almost every Artlook website ends up looking unique. See your website options for what each one looks like. Click About this template next to the dropdown for Artlook’s own description of whichever one you’ve picked.
  • Web site colours, Web site fonts — pick from a range of colour packs and font packs to style your chosen template.
  • Use logo on web site — show your logo instead of your name in the site header.
  • Show prices on web site — many artists switch this off, since a gallery may charge a different price and showing two different prices is confusing for buyers.
  • Show status on thumbs — show a status flag (such as sold) on inventory thumbnails.
  • Language — the language your website is displayed in.
  • Sequencing — how items are ordered on the site.
  • Display email address — whether your email address is shown on the site.
  • Link events on menu — whether exhibitions/events link directly from the main menu.
  • Consigned out artwork for sale — how a piece that’s currently consigned out to someone else is shown on your site: leave it unstated (the default), direct visitors to the consignee, or mark the item as currently unavailable.

Pages

Tick the box next to each optional page — Exhibitions, Galleries, Biography — to include it, and set the title shown for it in the menu. You can also rename the Home page menu title. Exhibitions and Galleries need their related Groupings set up correctly to have content to show; Biography is optional.

Advanced

  • Google Maps Location — paste an embed code from Google Maps here to show a map on your Contact page.
  • Meta key words and Meta key description — text used by search engines when indexing your site.
  • Special CSS — add your own CSS to fine-tune your site’s appearance beyond what the colour and font packs offer.
  • Your Google Analytics account — connect a Google Analytics account to track visitors, alongside Artlook’s own website analytics.

On the newer templates, you can also upload documents — Terms and Conditions, a Privacy Policy, and the like — to be linked from your website’s footer.

Don’t forget to click Save changes.

Custom designs and modest customisations

If none of the templates are quite right, a fully custom design is available — raise a support ticket to start the conversation with our team. Even if you don’t need a full custom design, our support team can often make modest customisations to a standard template on request, also via a support ticket.
